Some more pictures of the kittens

Momo and Chouchou are growing everyday, getting stronger, jumper higher, flighting/playing more and more. It is getting difficult to take pictures of them, unless they are quiet or sleeping.

I will post some pictures I took from my keitai (mobile phone). That is, when I can figure out again how to do it (last time I uploaded pictures from the keitai was long time ago and I forgot)...

We got the kittens !

We picked up Momo (white and shades of gray) and one week later, Chouchou joined our household. We had a little surprise with Chouchou: it is a female (we had been told she would be a "he"). And she had a worm problem. But now, things are much better !
The big red cat is Maxou, our 14 years old grandma, who is looking at the kitten from far and just shaking her head. Her mantra "this too shall pass, this too shall pass" ...

We are getting baby kittens

In June, we will welcome ChouChou and (temporary named) Gamma.

Here are some pictures of Gamma and his sister (Gamma is the kitten with a bigger spot on the face; his sister is the other white cat with spots). Somebody else will adopt the sister.

Both kittens are survivors: Chouchou was abandonned with his siblings at about one day (!) of age, somewhere in a box. Unfortunately, the siblings did not make it. He is now about three weeks old. We have to wait until the end of June to get him.

Gamma and his sisters were abandonned in a garbage bag (!) at about 3-4 weeks of age. One sister did not make it. The other sister will be adopted by sombody else (we had decided to adopt Chouchou before we knew about Gamma).

We still have Maxou, 14 years old female, also known as "the princess of the house" (uchi no ohime sama in Japanese). So three cats are kind of a maximum.

Neutered male cats seem easier to deal with than females (that's a least my experience with Titi and other males I had in the past). There were some issues between Maxou and Titi: maybe because Titi was the first to come to my place (we call that sempai in Japanese), even though it was just a matter of 2-3 weeks, 14 years ago; or because he was a male. Maxou sometimes tried to rebell and was not alwasys very nice with Titi. She changed a lot since he died. We hope that some hidden mother insticts will come out and that she will feel like a mother to the new kittens. And since she will definitely be their sempai and still the princess of the house, it should be ok. We will make sure that she always feels like being first.

Titi est au paradis

Notre chat adoré Titi est décédé ce week-end. Mon mari et moi avions appris il y a seulement quelques jours que Titi avait une tumeur (probablement cancéreuse). Son état s'est rapidement empiré et il est parti samedi matin. Nous l'avons incinéré le même jour.

Son amie Maxou est maintenant la "princesse de la maison" (ohime sama en japonais).

Titi est entré dans ma vie il y a 13 ans. Et Maxou, deux semaines plus tard. Les deux chats m'ont accompagnée pendant toute ma vie adulte. Ils ont déménagé il y a 10 ans de la Suisse au Japon, du Japon en Suisse trois en plus tard et de nouveau de la Suisse au Japon il y a quatre ans.

C'est très dur pour mon mari et moi de devoir accepter le départ de Titi. Il était tellement gentil. Et avait pris tellement d'espace dans nos vies et dans nos coeurs.

Il va nous manquer.

Son départ fulgurant est un triste rappel: la vie est courte et tout peut s'arrêter très rapidement.

Life must go on ... la vie continue ... c'est dur, mais c'est comme ça ...
